The elementary years seem to me like the most varied years of homeschooling. The most fun. The most work for mom. The most simple. The most complicated. Elementary learning is fun with cool projects, great field trips and plenty of time for play and friends. It’s also a lot of work for mom due to the extra responsibility of kids in the house all day messing up the house while mom tries to clean and get some school tended. It’s simple. Almost everything is learning. And, it’s complicated. How do you get it all done while tending to younger siblings, cooking dinner and finding a few minutes to your self.
All of this pulls together into one whirlwind of a great life. Homeschooling creates kids who are confident in themselves, their family and their community. Family is calmer without the additional strain of homework at dinnertime/bedtime. Children learn responsibility by living with and helping with family work rather than being shuffled off to school while mom picks up the pieces of their life. Toss it all in the blender and life is good. Enjoy!
