Life of Fred

Life of Fred is a ’storybook’ math lesson book.   Fred comes into contact with mathematical ideas in his life.  The lessons he learns are then applied by the reader.  Sorry for the brief intro.  I’ve never seen it, but following the review below by Mama L, I’m looking forward to checking it out.  If you’ve got more info, I’d love to know about it.

D.  LOVES his Life of Fred Fractions book. Although he likes math and is good at it, he has never voluntarily sat down and done math in his free time. But that’s exactly what he did with Life of Fred! After I handed it to him and asked him to take a look at it, he could not put it down. He read and worked through the first half of the book in the first day! It was fun! He was asking *me* math questions! He is just now finishing up the whole book after having it only a couple of weeks. So, what we have here is an 11 y/o kid who happily worked through the book *on his own* and finished in a couple of weeks. Is that enough of a review for you? :-)

Off to buy the next Life of Fred book.
