Calculus Without Tears – Vol. 3 – Nature’s Favorite Functions

From the Calculus without Tears website:

Calculus Without Tears Vol. 1 – Constant Velocity Motion is a calculus book with only one formula, and you already know the formula ! It is distance equals velocity times time. That’s it, the only formula in the book. And yet, after completing Vol. 1 the student knows what a derivative is, what an integral is, the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, and what a differential equation is. Moreover, the students feels perfectly comfortable with these concepts, because there is NO MYSTERY. There is no difficult math at all. Even further, the student will have differentiated functions, integrated functions, applied the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, and solved differential equations ! All using only one formula, distance = velocity * time, that’s it. This is all possible because the concepts of calculus are easy, they only become difficult when applied to analyzing complex phenomena. In Vol. 1 we analyze very simple motion, constant velocity motion. CWT is completely different from previous calculus methods, because the concepts, including differential equations, are introduced in a this very easy context, and with no unnecessary complications or distractions.

(Why the formula ‘distance = velocity * time’? This formula IS the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus for constant velocity motion. And, it’s easy to generalize to any motion (in Vol. 3), and CWT is the only calculus method using this easy to understand approach.)
